Black Scientists Matter can be found on Facebook and Instagram.

Kold Empire

Kold Empire, founded in 2016 by juniors Elijah Moore and Kalib Miller (pictured above from left to right), is a streetwear brand known for its colorful geometric designs.

The brand can be followed on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Boss Floss

Boss Floss, founded in summer 2016 by senior Jonathan Tucker (on left), evolved from “flossy tips” on Tucker’s Snapchat that have become a wearable form of expression.

HBCUMade Apparel is operated by junior business majors Shanaya Belvin and Mykol Branch, with an emphasis on “unity and pride within the historically black [collegiate] community.” The brand was founded in fall 2016. The brand holds pop-up shops at events and has an online store.

Outsiders In Age

clothing brand - outsiders in age 01

Outsiders In Age, founded by Jordan Harris, Jaylan Squire, Quinn Hobson Powell and Deon Alex-Minner, released its first seasonal line in April 2017. To be considered an Outsider In Age, you must “live your life according to you disregarding the opinions of others. […] Our generation is in need of people who aren’t afraid to be different, and through fashion we will express our individuality.”

The brand has an official Twitter and Instagram.

Black Genius Apparel

Black Genius Apparel is in a league of its own on this list: It’s the only brand that wasn’t started by an NCCU student. Dr. Toya Corbett is NCCU’s Dean of Students and “Chief Genius” of Black Genius Apparel, which was created to “cultivate a brand identity that promotes the intellectual fortitude of African Americans.” While there is currently only one shirt design for the brand, it comes in multiple colorways, including the above pink and green of Corbett’s own Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
